It has been triple digit heat here so of course my AC broke. They ordered the part I need which is syrup time in getting here. Even with windows open, ceiling fan and free standing fan, my studio has been in the 90’s (and hard to breath in). This was no mere discomfort to be countered by having a large travel mug of ice water & wearing sarong as i have encountered in the past.
Exiled from my studio
I had a painting which would have been done in two more sessions, now laying on table in anticipation of our reunion. In meanwhile I have been able do my daily drawing. I only used one pencil a large Kimberley 525. The book is a hard backed lay flat 11×14 which i found while reorganizing my tabourets pre-inferno.
Here are the drawings done for my own amusement dubbed The Heatwave Series

Brilliant. Is that Hank Williams hanging out with Sir Duke?

Thank you. Yes that is hank. Not all he did was gold but when he was good he was great.

I agree. I appreciate him more than I like him. I would never deny his talent, though. Jambalaya (On the Bayou) is a remarkable tune. Lyrically. Musically. The singing and phrasing. Same with Cold, Cold Heart.

For me, lyrically I’m so lonesome I could cry, some of that is like French impressionist poetry. “The silence of a falling star lights up a purple sky…” Could be from Mallarme

Well, Mallarme I’m not familiar with. And I have only a fleeting notion or French impressionism. But I do Know the song. It’s very atmospheric and poignant.

Here where I live, temperatures reached 41 degrees Celsius. I don’t use air conditioning, I trust my good old friend, the fan, and ventilation through the windows, but at that time even the windows weren’t helping, they had to stay closed all day. I had, and still have, a lot of difficulty painting with the fan on because the paints dry much faster than normal. I have to create new habits in this horrendous heat! Drawing is a good alternative. Your drawings are very good!

Thank you. My heat here, window open w/fans just not enough to make being in studio possible.
